Art Gallery
When we wish to see a movie we visit the cinema. When we want to experience music we go to a concert. When we want to watch television we stay at home.
And if we want to view art, we visit an art gallery.
Art galleries or museums are there for the exhibition of art, often in the forms of paintings and sculptures, plus many other visual forms including photographs, installations, illustrations or maybe even films.
There is a huge market for original paintings and at the same time a huge demand to see original forms of a famous picture in person. There are hundreds of famous paintings by famous artists around the world, from the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Va Vinci to The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. Art galleries are important as a way of making sure these masterpieces are available for people to see for years to come. Without them a large part of the cultural history of humans would be lost forever.
So by visiting a nearby art gallery you can view items that make up who we are as a species and how our understanding of the cultural world has developed over time.
